Submission of Abstracts

The Organising Committee of the European Club for Paediatric Burns invites you to submit an abstract(s) for consideration as an oral presentation.

Abstracts should be no longer than 350 words and must be submitted using the template provided below.

Notification of Acceptance

All abstracts are subject to peer review and the ECPB Organizing Committee is the final decision makers on all abstract submissions. Notifications of acceptance will be sent via e-mail to the submitting author on the 30 June 2014.

All accepted abstracts will be published in the 7th World Congress on Paediatric Burns 2014 Proceedings. By submitting your abstract you agree to the publishing of your paper in the Congress Proceedings.

Failure to Present
Once an abstract is accepted for inclusion in the Congress Program, it is the responsibility of the presenting author to ensure that the abstract submitted is presented. If for some unforeseen reason the presenting author is unable to present the abstract they must notify the Congress Organizer of their situation. It is preferable that the abstract be presented by one of the listed co-authors.

General Policies and Requirements
Abstracts must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • The presenting author must submit the abstract.
  • All abstracts must be prepared according to the guidelines and using the abstract template. Abstracts will be published exactly as they are submitted; there will be no opportunity for amendments after the submission deadline of 1 June 2014.
  • All submissions must be completed electronically using the template provided, uploading the file with your abstract, and submitted by clicking on the Submit button.
  • All fields on the online abstract submission form must be completed.
  • Submission of an abstract acknowledges consent to publication of the abstract in the ECPB 2014 Congress Proceedings.

Abstract Format and Layout Guidelines

  • The purpose of the abstract is to define the precise subject of the presentation to an audience. Sufficient details of the study must be included in the abstract, so that others can confirm the research.
  • Abstract must not exceed a word limit of more than 350 words.
  • The abstract should not include tables or figures.
  • Abstracts must be single spaced with a clear line between paragraphs. Do not use an indent to mark a new paragraph.
  • Abstracts must be free of typographical and grammatical errors.
  • Standard abbreviations may be used for common terms only. Otherwise, any abbreviation should be given in brackets after the first full use of the word. Abbreviations may be used in the title, provided the name in full is outlined in the body of the abstract.
  • Scientific symbols must be spelt out in full English; symbols must not be used within abstracts.


The abstract title should be short, informative and contain the major key words. It should be in lowercase, Arial 12 point font, Bold, centered. Insert a one line space between the abstract title, authors/affiliations and body of abstract.
